Most conventional clothes are made of cotton or other synthetic fibers. Synthetic fibers are produced using chemicals that are poisonous and are a burden on the environment. Cotton used for conventional clothes is grown using pesticides which are nothing but cancer-causing chemicals, such as, cyanazine, dicofol, naled, propargite, and trifluralin. During production, the conventional cotton fabric is exposed to highly toxic chemical baths and treatments and is then dyed using chemical-based synthetic dyes containing heavy metals. Though organic clothing feels expensive initially, it is actually worth its cost when compared to conventional clothing that wears down easily after 10-20 washes. It lasts long, feels great on the skin and causes no side-effects or allergies. As parents, investing in organic clothing is wiser because it not only protects your children; it protects the farmers and the environment too.
